Leeds Mech Eng Forum Rules

This forum has been established and is being run entirely on a voluntary basis. It is for you to voice your opinions and suggestions for the society, as well as creating an online environment for members to socialise.

We want you to enjoy the forums, but so that they can be enjoyed by all members we have to establish some ground rules.

Respect your fellow forum users. Treat others as you would wish to be treated yourself, in person as well as online. Abuse will not be tolerated; be it to other members, students or university staff.

As a society, we are part of the Leeds University Union and also have strong links with the Faculty of Engineering. Therefore, it is our responsibility to ensure that the forums are not used for any purposes contravening University policy, including but not limited to plagiarism and cheating.*

Links to illegal or offensive material, or methods to obtain such material, could bring the forum, society and its members into disrepute. As such, posts of this nature cannot be allowed.

The society holds the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and all other facets of the University, in high regard. Please treat them with respect.

We’re all grown-ups, so we should know how to behave. Hopefully we will never have to take action with regards to any members’ forum usage. However, if the forums are abused, we reserve the right to alter posts, profiles and/or accounts. In serious cases, members abusing the forums may be banned.

These rules also apply to the Chatbox (yes, we can check that too!) and Personal Messages. If you are upset by the nature of a PM, please forward it to a Moderator, who will take any necessary action.

Enjoy the forums and play nice!

The LeedsMechEng Team

* If any major transgression of the University code of conduct occurs on the forums, we may be obliged to report such instances to the University authorities.
