Can I start out with something a bit simpler? Like buying a bag of Maltesers and awarding them on a first-come-first-served basis. (Well... By definition I got to me first. )

but the process of eating them doesn't include handing them out, so you'd have to rule yourself out of that... if anyone hands you one, then you get one, but i eated mine

Have you ever seen the movie Calendar Girls? The bit where all the cakes in the cake competition come from M&S. Thats my sort of cooking.

Yeah, but the instructions on M&S cakes are pretty simple.
Step one: Open box.
Step two: Slide cake onto plate.
Step three: Cut cake with moderately sharp knife.
Step four: Eat.

dimensions of specified plate? where on the box is the designated opening? what type of fasteners and supprts does it use? what is the young's modulous of the cake? what do the shear force and bending moment diagrams of the cake look like? does it need to meet a safety factor? does it need reinforcement?
